FAQs

The process of buying original art can come with lots of questions. Hopefully you’ll find the answer to most of these here. If not, you can email me at art@laurapedley.com or head over to the Contact Page to send me a message and I’ll be happy to answer your queries.

When will my artwork be shipped?

All my original artworks are shipped by an insured courier within 10 working days of purchase, and prints via Royal Mail tracked services within 2-3 weeks (these are ordered on demand from a third-party supplier). Once your order is on its way to you will receive an email to say your order has been fulfilled with a tracking number.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, I regularly ship artwork all over the world, although international deliveries can take longer to arrive depending on where you are. You, the buyer, are responsible for paying any import duties, customs charges or taxes which are applied by the destination country. These types of charges are completely out of my control and I can accept no responsibility for them.

Please get in touch by emailing art@laurapedley.com if you would like a quote for shipping to your country prior to purchase (although I cannot tell you how much any customs costs might be I’m afraid).

How will my painting be protected whilst its being shipped?

All original paintings are carefully wrapped in a layer of glassine paper, then layers of bubble wrap, cardboard, protective corners, more bubble wrap, and then more cardboard! Prints are wrapped in glassine paper and rolled in a sturdy postal tube. Both are wrapped up very snug and safe when they leave my studio and I have never had an artwork arrive damaged. However, if you do receive your artwork and it is damaged, you need to email me within 7 days of delivery (preferably with photos of the package and the damage) so I can make a claim with the courier and discuss with you either a refund or repair.

Can I collect my artwork in person?

Of course, just select ‘Local Collection’ when checking out and I’ll be in touch by email for you to collect your painting from my home studio in Rusholme, Manchester, UK.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes! I know investing in artwork can be a big decision and spreading the cost out can sometimes help to get the piece you’ve fallen in love with into your home. I have several instalment options available, please email me prior to purchase if this is something you’d like to talk about. My website provider doesn’t currently allow me to set this as an option as checkout, so this is usually done by invoice and direct BACS payment; normally a 50% deposit, followed by two monthly payments of 25%, but can be spread over more months if preferred. Your painting will be delivered when the balance has been fully paid. My normal shipping and returns policies still apply.

I saw a painting I loved but had already sold, can you recreate it for me?

While I do take on commissions, I’m afraid I cannot guarantee to recreate a previously sold work for you. Inevitably the second artwork will vary from the first, it’s the nature of painting, leaving the collector potentially disappointed. I can however use your preferred artworks and colour palettes as a starting point to create a completely new and bespoke piece of art for you which hopefully you will love even more, just visit my Commissions page for more information.

Are your paintings ready to hang?

All my paintings come ready to hang with a secure string across the back, or for much larger artworks two D-rings for you to hang the work on more securely.

Are your paintings framed?

All my paintings on wood panel are sold framed and ready to hang. My original paintings on canvas are sold unframed, with the painting wrapping around the edges of the canvas giving a beautiful finish that can hung as it is or be framed (see here for what this looks like). I do not offer framing for my canvases, but can happily advise you on how to find a local framer who will be able to help you.

Do you frame prints?

As these are part of my more affordable and accessible offering, my prints do not come framed. They have a narrow white border around them to aid you with framing yourself, and are all at standard sizes so you can be buy a frame off the shelf and hang your print easily.

If you’re a designer working on a larger project, I do offer custom print sizes on request, please email art@laurapedley.com to talk through your requirements in more detail.

What medium are your paintings?

I mostly work in acrylic paints, with all works finished with a UV protective archival quality satin varnish.

How do I look after my painting?

Use a dry lint free cloth or duster to regularly brush over the surface of the painting to keep it clean. If you do happen to get any wet liquids on the surface of the painting, the varnish means you should be able to clean it with a clean slightly damp cloth and let it dry naturally.

Do you work with interior designers?

Yes, I have partnered with interior designers and art consultants on all sorts of interesting projects. If you’d like to talk with me about your project please email me at art@laurapedley.com.

My painting arrived and isn’t what I expected, can I return it?

Please take some time before you purchase to carefully read the listing description, check colours on different screens if you are worried about colour variations (as colours may vary slightly in person), check sizes, framing, lead times for delivery etc. I use a professional photographer to capture my original artworks as accurately and true-to life as possible, all in the hope that you what arrives in the post is exactly what you hoped it would be.

However, I want you to be totally happy with your purchase, and if that is not the case you have 14 days from delivery to contact me by email and request a return. Once we have agreed a return, you are responsible for packaging and shipping the painting back to me in the same condition it was sent. Once I’ve safely received the painting I will refund your payment within 14 days. This does not include shipping costs, which are non-refundable

Do you take on commissions?

Yes, I do, and I love them! My commissioned paintings usually take 6-8 weeks for completion after the deposit has been paid. Please read more about my process on my Commissions page and then either send me an email at art@laurapedley.com or complete the form there. Due to their bespoke nature and all the extra care put into creating the perfect piece for you, prices are approximately 20% higher for a commissioned piece of original art.

Can I visit you at your studio?

My home studio in Manchester is only open by appointment. Please contact me if you’d like to come say hi, I’d love to show you around!

If you have any other questions which I haven’t covered here, please get in touch at art@laurapedley.com
